Carl L von Baeyer was one of the five founding principal investigators in PICH in 2002. He is Professor Emeritus of Psychology and a former Associate Member in Pediatrics at the University of Saskatchewan. In 2011 he moved to Winnipeg , where he is now Professor of Clinical Health Psychology (Research Affiliate) and Professor of Pediatrics and Child Health, University of Manitoba. His graduate training was at the University of Waterloo and at Duke University Medical Center. He has long-standing collaborations with the Pain Research Unit, Sydney Children’s Hospital, Australia, and with the Centre for Pediatric Pain Research, IWK Health Centre, Halifax. He received the American Pain Society's 2017 Jeffrey Lawson Award for Advocacy in Children's Pain Relief. His current research is on children’s self-report of pain.
