About me/my research:

My research focuses on pain assessment and management in children with multiple injuries. This is an area that has garnered minimal research attention. By conducting a review of charts in a pediatric trauma center over the past one year, I will be examining how child factors (e.g. age, sex, number and type of injuries, mechanism of injury, severity of injury) and situational factors (e.g. whether the first opioid analgesia was received in the pre-hospital setting, the Emergency department, or in the transferring hospital) affect the period of time between the traumatic event and administration of first opioid analgesia. Additionally, I will be interviewing children who have endured such an event as well as the health care professionals who provide care to them in the early stages of the traumatic event.
