Dr. Ruth Eckstein Grunau, PhD, RPsych, a Pediatric Psychologist, is a Professor in the Division of Neonatology, Dept. of Pediatrics, with a cross-appointment to Psychology, at the University of British Columbia, and a Distinguished Scholar in the Child and Family Research Institute, in Vancouver. Her research is multidisciplinary, funded primarily by NICHD/NIH and CIHR, focuses on infant pain assessment, and long term effects of neonatal pain in infants born very prematurely, who are exposed to repeated procedural pain at a time of very rapid brain development and programming of stress systems.
